Family Emergency Community Resources

If you or someone you know is facing difficult times, Samuels Elementary PTA has compiled a list of family community resources. Below is a short list of services and resources in our community.

  • Referrals for city services in Denver such as Temporary Aid to Needy Families, Denver Housing Authority and Food Stamps.
  • You must first qualify for services.

Comitis Crisis Line
  • 24-hour availability of emergency housing, food, clothing and necessities.
  • 24-hour crisis line, seven-days a week
  • Preventive Counseling 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven-days a week
  • Community outreach, problem prevention, and educational programs

Jewish Family Services
  • Applicants do not need to be Jewish and assistance is provided based upon need on a sliding-scale fee.
  • Counseling services for kids and adults.
  • Emergency family assistance
  • Distribute supplemental food
  • In-home care for people with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and chronic illnesses
  • For people with disabilities -- employment, vocational training, community access and other services
  • For refugees and immigrants – helps with adjustment of a new language culture and way of life, cross-cultural counseling services, and citizenship classes

Hope Food Ministries
  • Fresh produce is available Monday – Wednesday and Fridays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. No identification is required for produce.
  • Canned goods are also available during these times. Applicants must provide a valid Colorado ID or Driver’s License with their current address.
  • A clothing bank is also available next door. Call for times, which may vary.

Denver Center for Crime Victims
  • Provides services to crime victims who have been ignored or underserved because of their income, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, age, ability or sexual orientation.
  • Operates a 24-hour clearinghouse to refer people to existing services and to work cooperatively on behalf of victims and their needs.

  • Free or reduced cost immunizations. A $14 charge per immunization is requested, although no child is ever turned away for not being able to pay.
